Gamma

How do you adjust the gamma and what is it? I have advised to adjust the gamma several times and haven't figured out how to do that on my editing program.

Thanks.

Re: Gamma

In a nutshell, gamma is a measure of the midtones in a photo. Adjusting gamma can correct a slightly too-light (flat) or too-dark photo without throwing the shadows (darkest areas) or highlights (lightest areas) off scale.

Which photo editing program are you using?

Re: Gamma

I use Photo studio 5 for Canon. It came with my Camera. I have just started exploring what it and the camera can do as I haven't had it very long.

I'm not familiar with Photo Studio, but no doubt it has a tool for adjusting gamma or levels. Look under the "Enhance" menu and experiment!

Re: Gamma

Thanks Mark. There is no selection for gamma, but I did experiment with it and really brought out one of the pictures that it was suggested I change the Gamma.
